Old Navy Helps You Show Your Gay Pride

So, the rest of the country celebrates pride in June, while Dallas does it in October (helloooo, that way we get to party twice, duh) But Old Navy is helping you celebrate this month.

Old Navy says on its Facebook page that it's selling Gay Pride T-shirts in select stores until supplies run out. The shirts will be available at the Galleria and Park Lane stores in Dallas.

The Dallas Voice has images of two of the T-shirts. The paper reports that 10 percent of the proceeds will benefit the It Gets Better Project, an initiative to provide support to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people, who often face ostracism, bullying and discrimination.

Go get yours to support a great cause, get a cute shirt and have a good time!

BTW - this is good for straight people to show their support to! What? You didn't know you were supportive? Do you think it's wrong that people can be fired just for being gay? Yes? ~ Congratulations! You're one of the straight allies! Now go support your friends, interior decorator, handy-woman and Gay BFF!

Word on the Street: Buzzbrews is Coming and Cowboy Chow is Closing

From SideDish (yes, this is a cut and paste AND Late) :

Word on the street is that the Deep Ellum/Commerce St. location of Cowboy Chow is being taken over by D’s Best Breakfast favorite, Buzzbrews. In fact, this (last) weekend is the Chow’s last one in that location. Look for Buzzbrews to start slinging their hash to downtown brunchers, the 2 am Adair’s crowd, and hungover hipsters sometime in July.

Thai Brunch and Cheap Mimosas at Malai Kitchen

Step one: wake up. Step two: head to the West Village Malai Kitchen. Here, you’ll grab a table on the patio, order up some Vietnamese french toast (made with banh mi bread) or eggs Benedict on a coconut biscuit, and—for this weekend only—sip on 25-cent mimosas. Those quarters have been burning a hole in your pocket.

Shorts to Make You a Hit at the Next Pool Party

Lush is a just-dropped board short that's collage-style patched up w/ Mulisha-scripted-takes on beer logos and best of all, specially set up to semi-covertly tote up to 90oz of beer, so John Daly's going to have to wear four pairs, at least. In order to lug around all those suds, they've got two cargo-type pockets each equipped for a pair of tallboys, plus two skull-decorated straps on the back that're specially-reinforced for the weight of a can. Of course, there're side-pockets too (yes John Daly, each is about deep enough for a regular-sized can), plus the shorts come with an aluminum bottle opener attached to the inside of the side pocket.

Giving a Fake Phone Number that Connects to Your Real Phone Number

Ok, so we've all accidentally given out our real phone number to the wrong person on occassion. Here's a way to give out your number (in case you actually do want to talk to your next potential Sig-O) without having to worry about that individual blowing up your real phone number (why your previous Sig-O has "previous" in the name) and it saves you the hassle of giving them 972-444-3456 (which sounds fake and "Hello, and welcome to AOL Moviefone!")

Babble.ly provides a fake forwarding number you can give out freely and cut off at any time. Now, to think of an appropriately cool-sounding alias...Take care of this before you head to that annual pool party featuring too many jello shots.

That's right, you can stay at the Adolphus Hotel for as little as $55 a night. Seriously, this is for a number of different nights, not just the 3rd tuesday of the 6th month of the year ending in a 2. Built by beer baron Adolphus Busch in 1912 two blocks from Neiman Marcus’s flagship store, Dallas’s Adolphus Hotel has kept its place as a favorite among distinguished visitors for years. The draw? An Old World aesthetic with baroque furniture and paintings, a hyperattentive staff and an outstanding French restaurant — right in the middle of downtown. Great Food, Great Price: Horne & Dekker for Half Off!

The most common way to experience the Deep South is to find a street magician and hope he pulls a shiny Louisiana state quarter from your ear. Today's Groupon presents another option when there are no illusionists handy: for $20, you get $40 worth of creative southern fare at Horne & Dekker. Click here to get the deal right now, or if you need convincing, keep reading.

Horne & Dekker's executive chef Corey Smith, born and trained in New Orleans, sates southern comfort cravings with deconstructed interpretations of classic comfort food dishes, earning the restaurant a spot on D Magazine's Best New Restaurants in Dallas 2010 list. Diners dig into the revolutionary menu inside the restaurant or on the climate-controlled patio with hardcore delicacies from below the Mason Dixon line such as golden-battered deep-fried frog legs and fries ($10), along with mainstream munchies including the crisp-shelled fried green tomatoes ($7).

For a bigger bite, childhood-nostalgia inducing Dr. Pepper takes center stage, marinating juicy pork carnitas to caramelized tenderness ($16). Bolster unexpected entrees with a comforting bumper of succulent sides, including creamy mac 'n' cheese ($7) or cheesy scalloped potatoes ($8), while enjoying the restaurant's local art and clever, but very inedible, canned-good table toppers. Home-baked red velvet cake takes on new life as moist, cream-filled twinkies ($7) that could easily defeat their lunch-box cousins in a sugary showdown. Horne & Dekker's special brunch and Sunday supper selections award well-behaved appetites with straight-up comfort grub, including biscuits and gravy, beer-battered fish, and mom's meatloaf ($16 per person).

Now you can go get that deal and get some of the best southern food around.

Dallas Farmers Market - You Need to Go

When I looked at my calendar last Thursday, I was surprised to see a pretty open weekend. What in the world is a girl to do? Oh, I know! Fill it up with fun adventures! So, after crawling the web as I usally do, I planned an adventure to the Dallas Farmers Market. Now, I've been before, but it's literally been years.

So, Saturday morning (I use that term liberally, but anything before noon is morning), the Sig-O and I grabbed our reusable shopping bag and headed downtown. I've admitted before that I love great food and I'm totally digging the idea of eating local, so this was bound to be fun. Parking was easy and free, then we walked over to the sheds. This is not some little street farmers market. The DFM (see, I'm cool and know the lingo) has 4 sheds, each with different specialties.

  • Shed 1: Local Farmers/Produce Dealers - right now they have great looking green beans, potatoes and tomatoes(got those!) And I got the most beautiful portabello mushrooms. These are why people don't mind being vegetarians

  • Shed 2: Eateries & Special Foods - this shed is indoors and air conditioned. You'll find great meats, spcies and more. We grabbed a reuben for lunch and it was fantastic. Definitely recommend it, but split it!

  • Shed 3: Produce Dealers - They have fruits and vegetables from all over. This stuff looks great and might be slightly cheaper than the local stuff, particularly the things that are not commonly locally grown. For instance, pineapple is not local, at least not in North Texas

  • Shed 4: Wholesale Produce - buying in bulk. You'll be buying by the case rather than by the basket

Clearly there was plenty to look at, and you'll be offered free produce samples at almost stand (yum). Sig-O and I had to discuss what all we'd be having for dinner this week to prevent overbuying (an easy and common problem to have there). We're looking forward to return trips to enjoy whatever is in season. I strongly recommend visiting your local farmers market. Here's the 411 on the DFM: www.dallasfarmersmarket.org Enjoy!

I Love BYOB Restaurants in Dallas

We all know that I'm a bit of wino from time to time, but the reality is that if you don't appreciate wine, you probably don't appreciate me. Here's a great reason to appreciate Wednesdays (that awful day in the middle of the week): Cane Rosso is BYOB on Wednesday night. Yes kids, you read that right. You can get amazing pizza and drink amazing wine for an amazing price (namely the price without wine). Plus, you can also take Fido, Fluffy or Rowser there because they're dog friendly. Score! Check out their site here and I'll see you there Wednesday!

New Brunch Spot in the OC: Jonathon's (and it's BYOB)

Yes, this is another cut and paste, but it sounds fun. And the real job (the one that pays the bills) has been super busy. My apologies for not being more attentive to your needs today.

Presenting Jonathon’s, a new BYOB brunch spot from a Bread Winners disciple, now open at the old Beckley Brewhouse location.

You’ve probably met Jonathon (or maybe just his Peanut Butter Jelly Time Waffle) at Bread Winners. So you know exactly how this will go down: you’ll slide out of your place, sleepy, recovering from a romantic evening of doing the electric worm, craving some breakfast tacos.

That’s when you’ll come to this little greenhouse in Oak Cliff. You’ll settle into a banquette on the left wall, drowning in throw pillows. Summon some Brunch Kabobs (sausage, bacon and ham on a stick) or Danger Dogs (pancakes wrapped around sausage on a stick). Or if you’re in desperate need of expediting your healing process, go with The Kure—bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, Tabasco and pico de gallo. (You believe in backup hot sauce.)

But on a cool summer night, you and a casual date could grab a black table on the gated front patio and order up some fried chicken and waffles followed by Pan de Jon (bread custard and citrus bananas).

Note: Jonathon’s, now open, 214-946-2221

Get Good Beer - To Go

From the Cut and Paste Division, but worth reading since this fab new bar has its soft opening on Thursday. Go get your drink on.

Introducing The Bottle Store, an impressive new mecca of brew, soft-opening Thursday.

You may have consulted with the guys behind this place before—they run worldbeercompany.com. Now, they’re going full brick-and-mortar. Imagine the offspring of a beer shop and a pub: long oak bar, glass refrigerators and wooden shelves overflowing with bottled brews. (Well, not literally overflowing, but you get the idea.)

You’ll settle into one of four brown leather chairs in the front, facing two flat-screens. You could play it safe with a Firemans #4 on tap... but that’s not for you. No, you’ll be ordering a bottle of anything from a Rogue Chocolate Stout or a beer from India (Kingfisher Lager) to a Maredsous Triple (the strongest brew in the place with 10% ABV) or, starting in June, their beer of the month.

And should you need to rush out—or, you know, it’s last call—you can order up a couple six-packs to take with you.

Bottle opener not included.

You can get your libations and random food at the Crown Kitchens.

She has a tail. Seriously. These people dress up for going to the Faire. That means they actually OWN these costumes. And now she owns a tail to go with it.

You know you want these. I wonder if they have a Scarborough Faire wedding registry area?

Turtle Races. Thrilling.

I picked out your dress for next year's faire. You're welcome.

First Look/Restaurant Review: Mesa

I usually have a deluge of emails in my inbox each morning, which I diligently skim to let you know all the best deals, steals, and you know the rest. Then there are the emails that come in later in the day that I might take a little more time to read, and I’m glad I did just that on Friday, as I found out about the soft opening for Mesa. The official opening party is on Wednesday, and it’s worth the trip to the OC.

The location, on Jefferson, makes you double check to make sure you locked your car, but once you’re inside the nicely appointed space, you completely forget where you are. There are few tables, so be glad when you snag one. The dark brown chairs and banquettes coordinate nicely with the orange accent wall and orange bottles of water placed on your table.

Sig-O and I were warmly greeted by the hostess and the chef owner, who continued to check on us throughout the evening. The service was prompt and friendly, letting us know that they weren’t serving their signature cocktails yet, but the bar was a still available. Their cocktail list is impressive, involving a number of house made ingredients that made us want to return to enjoy the bar. After taking our drink order, the server told us that he’d bring out the Surtido Veracruzano , an assortment of appetizers, so we could try a number of things, as well as their ceviche. The plate includes enmoladas, enfrijoladas, platanos fritos, picada and an empanada. The empanada was the standout appetizer, but I’d certainly recommend getting the sampler plate so you can try things on your own. But the ceviche, with house-made tortilla chips really stole the show. The bright flavors seemed to dance in your mouth. I even bargained with the Sig-O to make sure I could have a little extra ceviche.

After the large appetizer we had, Sig-O and I decided to split the Camarones Enchipotlados. Described as whole Galveston shrimp sautéed in chipotle sauce and served with jasmine rice, we found that we had chosen wisely again. The smokiness of the chipotle sauce married well with the tender shrimp. The side of sautéed vegetables included onion, zucchini and corn. Our charming server also brought out some fresh tortillas, which were wonderful. Since we were splitting, I’m sure that bringing three tortillas would have been perfect for one person, but a restaurant pet peeve of mine would be those that bring an odd number of tortillas to a couple. It would just be nice to have them throw in an extra tortilla. Not as much a complaint about Mesa, but just a restaurant comment. You know, it would just help avoid that awkward, “oh, I took the last one, is that ok?” moment.

Since Sig-O and I had split our entrée, and they had two desserts available that night, we opted to try each. The first was Arroz con Leche. It was wonderful, just the right amount of sweetness with the texture of the rice. But the winner for the entire night was the flan. Sig-O isn’t even a fan of flan, yet the plate kept going that direction. I don’t want to sound crass, but this dessert was like sex on a spoon. It was fantastic. With a creamy texture, rich mouth feel and a touch of orange flavor, this will most certainly be on my must have list.

On another note, Mesa has done a very good job of indicating gluten-free and vegetarian options on their menu. It’s always nice to see the attention to detail. I’m so glad that we got to go to Mesa before the crush that will undoubtedly ensue. I’d recommend heading over there ASAP so you can enjoy it too. Check out their site here and make your reservation!

We have restocked the sale with more than 100 new wines! 20-75% Off

Sigel's-Elite (3209 N Fitzhugh)

Go! Now! Seriously! Earlier this week they announced it and when I went by 8 hours into the sale it was already picked over. What are you waiting for? Go get wine!

Could BEE Really BEE the Best Enchiladas?

I’ll freely admit that I’m a fan of Monica Greene’s restaurants - RIP Ciudad, we still miss you and are waiting to see what in the world ever happens with that shopping center. I enjoy Monica’s Aca y Alla in Deep Ellum for lunch and brunch (hello, cheap mimosas and margaritas), and I’ve even ventured up to her place in Aspen courtesy of a family trip, thanks mom and dad. But when I hear that BEE was really an acronym for Best Enchildas Ever, I was like really? Really? Seems a little arrogant, so the bar was officially raised for this adventure.

Sig-O and I ventured down to Bishop Arts District, as this seems to be blossoming with foodie hangouts – hello Decanter and Dude Sweet Chocolate, but our mission this time was to check out BEE. We found the brightly colored building on Davis to have ample parking, made easier since we hadn’t ventured out until close to 2 p.m. We walked in and were cheerfully greeted and asked if we knew what we were doing. Yes, I get the concept of enchiladas, but ordering at BEE is reminiscent of Which Wich, complete with an order card so you can personalize everything. Sig-O and I each grabbed one a proceeded to fill out our cards. There are a lot of choices, so at some point I just started checking things. You get to choose between four different kinds of tortillas, 6 different fillings, 10 different sauces and four cheese toppings. That’s a mind-boggling 920 possible combinations, so you’ll understand why I just started checking. And that doesn’t even include the taco choices.

I went with a blue corn tortilla, carnitas filling, queso blanco sauce and Oaxaca cheese. Sig-O opeted for corn tortilla, chicken tinga filling, chipotle crème sauce and queso fresco. We also decided to get a beef picadillo taco in a corn tortilla, as well as chips and queso blanco. We hand over our cards to the friendly cashier who twists our arms into getting BEE margaritas. BEE also has a good selection of domestic and foreign (Mexican) beers, but he told us that we’d be glad we got the best $4 margarita in town, and we were, after the brain freeze wore off just in time to watch our enchiladas get made in front of us.

You’ll watch as enchilada making experts carefully craft your handmade enchilada to your exacting specifications, followed by your selection of additional toppings in case you feel like making mom proud and throwing some veggies on top(lettuce, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, carrots). Sig-O is a purist, but a cilantro fan, so has them throw a dash of cilantro on the enchilada. Now it’s my turn – the enchilada master makes my enchilada and I decide to make it pretty with everything, seriously, it makes it fun and colorful. Then there comes the taco, and the chips, and the queso. Thanks to the Sig-O for making me write all of that on mine, so I look like the fatty, but that’s neither here nor there.

We find a table on the patio that looks like it would be in the sun if we had ventured out earlier, which provides a good view of people and car watching. Winner for the day – woman driving the Aston Martin convertible with the fluffy white dogs in her lap. Back to the food. The queso blanco is the same queso Monica serves at Monica’s, and it’s still great. Thin chips were tasty, but required a rescue mission or two when they snapped under the weight of the queso. The beef picadillo taco was good with authentic flavors shining through as an opening act.

The star of the show was the enchiladas. The blue corn with carnitas was a very good choice. The pork was tender and flavorful, and the queso on the top was the same one we had with the chips. Sig-O had already delved into the chicken enchilada and didn’t look terribly interested in sharing, but thought better of it and switched plates for the obligatory taste test. The chipotle chicken was moist and well complemented by the chipotle crema sauce, which I had to keep myself from licking off the top of the enchilada. Seriously, it’s that good. Around that time, the Sig-O insisted I hand the enchilada with the magical sauce back over. I did, and then went back to enjoying my own yummy enchilada.

When our friendly cashier came by to check on us, we asked if that was possible to get the chipotle crema in a cup instead of queso to go with our chips next time. We got a questionable look with a raised eyebrow. I think that means it might be ok, but we’ll have to come back again to find out. And that’s not a problem.

Best enchiladas EVER? Don’t know that I can judge that without tasting enchiladas throughout time and space, but these just might be the best I’ve had.

It was a whipping just posting that. I can't imagine the concert will be any better. Good luck with that one.

Restaurant Review: Watel's Bistro

So, this last weekend was the celebration of my final sub-30 year. It was fantastic. Sig-O went above and beyond, arranging 3 fabulous celebrations for me. I’m a lucky girl. But this blog isn’t about my personal life as much as sharing with you the things that will serve you well as you wine, dine, date and save your way through life, particularly in Dallas. Which brings me to my fabulous Saturday night dinner at Watel’s Bistro.

Watel’s occupies the former York Street spot at Live Oak and Skillman, and there must be magic that stayed in that kitchen. The space is small, quaint, but well-appointed, with a chalkboard listing the evening’s specials (but everything on the menu is special too, we were told). It is a welcome change of scenery in a town full of loud restaurants where you have to yell across the table and your older dining companions have to pull out cell phones to read the final bill because it’s so dark. We were able to have lovely conversations between the two of us, as well as periodically chatting with the table next to us who kept looking over to see what we had just ordered. Tables are close together, but not uncomfortably so. They have certainly done a good job of putting in as many tables as possible without making it feel cramped.

The wine list is friendly, approachable and very reasonably priced. It’s quite easy to find a good bottle under $30, and certainly under $40. They do feature a number of the Times Ten Cellar wines, who just happens to be a close neighbor. But we were celebrating my birthday, so what to drink? Bubbly! Of course! We selected a Brut Rose Cava, and our waiter reminded me that it’s a rose. “Yes,” I said. “It’s pink,” he said. “Yes, I know,” I replied. This isn’t some sweet pink sparkling wine that you make fun of people for drinking. It was a flavorful and very fun accompaniment for the entire meal.

Watel’s features American cuisine with a French twist. They also do you a favor by allowing you to order your meal pre fixe. Two courses for $29, Three for $36 and Four for $43. It’s a very reasonable way to have a wonderful evening without blowing through your entire entertainment and food budget for the month. The Sig-O and I elected to both start with salmon. I went with the smoked salmon with caviar (did I mention it was my birthday, of course I picked caviar) and the Sig-O went with the Salmon Roesti. Both were perfectly prepared and presented beautifully. The presentation was consistently beautiful for all three courses. It’s a bit of a lost art form and I wish more places would showcase the beauty of the food rather than go for the presentation shock value. For our main courses, I ordered the scallops, which were perfectly seared. Sig-O went with the beef shoulder medallions, which came out as a textbook medium rare and seemed to melt in your mouth.

Then came the last challenge – choosing dessert. They have quite a number of desserts that were very tempting. (Are we allowed to do three courses of desserts? Probably not.) We asked our charming waiter what his recommendations were and were told that we needed to order the waffle and the chocolate terrine. (Side note: the menu on their website isn’t updated, so I don’t have the official fancy names, but just go with it) We asked what he thought of the warm bread pudding, which he said was quite good. We opted for the waffle and bread pudding, which they brought out, along with French press coffee that complemented dessert well. He then came back with a slice of the chocolate terrine, telling us, “That one is on me. I just thought you needed to try it too.” What a nice surprise. And he was right. The Sig-O and I got to share all three, and the table next to us was eyeing what we had ordered, asking what our recommendations were. The waffle and chocolate terrine. Hands down.

As the Sig-O and I were finishing dessert and the last of our cava, our waiter then brought over two more glasses of champagne, saying, “your glasses were getting dry.” Such wonderful service and attentiveness made it a wonderful birthday celebration.

I’m not one who normally wants to oooh and aaah over every aspect of a restaurant, but I truly had no complaints. The food was fantastic, the service was superb and the experience was a joy. I think I have a new favorite restaurant in town. You can visit their website and make your reservation here: http://www.watels.com/

Un-Cupcakes Sound Good for Un-Birthdays

I just celebrated my 29th birthday. Yes, the real 29, not the the 3rd, 4th or 5th anniversary of it, but thanks for making me feel older than I should. But whatever, I had some excellent cake this weekend - thanks Sig-O. Then today I saw the miracle un-Cupcake at Rush Patissere.

It's basically a miniature cake in a jar, that allows you to get the perfect bite every time. AKA, none of the crappy just dry cake bites. The cake is hollowed out so that frosting (or other fillings) can be put inside, as well as on top of the cake. The result? Perfect bite after perfect bite with frosting, filling and cake living in harmony on the miniature spoon that comes tied on each Un-Cupcake jar.

The other benefit with Rush's diabolical creation is that you can eat just a few bites and save the rest for later. You simply screw the lid back on the jar, which keeps it surprisingly fresh, unlike even the prettiest little cardboard box.

The Un-Cupcake comes in eight signature flavors, including Wedding Cake; Chocolate Ganache; Lemon Crunch; Caramel Coconut & Cream Cheese; S'mores; Red Velvet; Strawberries & Cream; and Caramel Macchiato, which comes with mocha flavored chocolates in the shape of coffee beans sprinkled on top. Check it out.

Your Seis De Mayo Plans

Seis De Mayo, the often forgotten due to hangovers from Cinco de Mayo day following Cinco de Mayo. It's a time to relax and drink water in a softly/dimly lit room while you nurse your hangover. Well, glad you did that all day b/c by the time 5 p.m. rolls around, it's time to party with the masters.

Kenichi’s hosting a party full of fantastic sake, sourced from all over Japan via the collection of Dallas’s only level II sake master. You wouldn’t celebrate Seis de Mayo any other way.

If Margaritas Aren't Your Speed

You're slow. Freaking slow, but you might actually be in luck. If you're more of a wino than a tequila shot kind of gal/guy, I'm suggesting you head over to Winetastic tonight for the Ferrari -Carano tasting. For only $10, you'll get to try a number of their fantatic wines. Still not convinced to stop by? How about 20 percent off of Ferrari-Carano wines tonight.

There's nothing like celebrating Cinco De Mayo with California wine. Hey, some of that soil was probably from Mexico.

And don't whine about the parking, it's easy and underground, just the same as Glorias. Sounds like a good place to start your evening. Because margaritas are great wine chasers.

Drive Your Car Like a Racecar

Did you know that racecar is one of those words that is the same word both forward and backward? Go ahead, check it, I'll wait. . . . See? But that's mostly irrelevant to this post.

There always seems to be something fun going on at “The Great American Speedway!”™ This Saturday is the “Laps for Charity” benefiting Speedway Children’s Charities at Texas Motor Speedway. Instead of watching race cars speed past you from your seat in the grandstands, you get a chance to take the wheel and experience the 1.5-mile superspeedway oval from an entirely different perspective! Come over to Texas Motor Speedway anytime between 5-10 pm Saturday and take your very own car out on the track for three laps behind a pace vehicle. It will cost you only $30 to experience the thrill of the race track and to gain even more respect for your favorite race car drivers. For an additional $10, you can even have your picture taken in Victory Lane! Click here for all the details.

If you want to REALLY make this an experience, you can purchase the VIP Laps Experience for $250. With this purchase, you are guaranteed a reserved time for a five-lap driving session, a photo in Victory Lane, two event t-shirts, a two-week trial membership to The Speedway Club, and dinner for two in The Speedway Club on Saturday evening. Such an amazing deal! Be sure to claim your VIP Laps Experience soon because they are limited and must be purchased in advance! All you have to do is contact Speedway Children’s Charities at (817) 215-8421 and you will be on your way to a great Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway.

Sounds like a good way for my sister to drive her car like a bat out of hell without worrying about those pesky HP cops. Have fun!

How to be a Slumfish Millionaire

Ok, so I'll confess that the baby tree in my office almost died over the weekend. And that I'm not actually the caretaker of the plant in my office b/c it would die if it had to depend on me for water. I play music for it, isn't that enough? But I digress, I think I may need a new officemate. Not sure what color he will be or what breed he'll be, but I know he'll be living in style. Check this outYep, a fish condo. And you can even stack them so you can have a whole complex! Check out this link for the deets: http://remodelista.com/products/fish-hotel-and-condo

Since 2005, Nicky's Week has raised more than $700,000 for the hospital and we hope to reach our $125,000 goal this year!

Gourmet Camping

The Sig-O recently convinced me to go camping. I hadn't been since 8th grade, which, let's face it, was a traumatic experience. $1.50 for a pay shower that you're quickly rushed in an out of so the other 60 girls can shower, combined with shoving 3 people in 1 tent, sleeping on the ground, crappy food, etc., you can see why I was in no rush to go camping again. But, alas, the Sig-O somehow convinced me that I should go out there too. So I did, for one night, my way. I took great steaks and sides, fresh ice (because not fresh ice is just water), and screw cap wine (we were roughing it). Sig-O's goal was accomplished b/c my review was, "well, I didn't hate it." Didn't like it, but didn't hate it. And will probably get convinced to do it again, which brings me to today's deal: A portable campfire rotissere. Yep, I'm all over this one.

Because I consider roughing it to involve good screw cap wine and a fresh rotisserie chicken or wild boar you caught and killed all by yourself.
