DALLAS — Horne & Dekker, the Henderson Avenue restaurant opened in mid-2010 by partners Shawn Horne and Flynn Dekker, closed on Monday. According to a source connected with the restaurant, the staff was informed on Monday night. Check out Pegasus News for the full story.
I'm bummed, but not shocked about this one.

So Long, Lumi
Sad to report that Lumi Empanda & Dumpling House on McKinney has closed. Rough parking situation on that section of McKinney probably didn't help. We'll miss them.

I'll Miss Alma
Word on the street (and their voicemail) is that Alma on Henderson (in the old Cuba Libre space) has closed. Bummer. I had a blast when the Sig-O had my birthday dinner there. I'll miss the yummy cocktails and great food. We'll see what happens next in that space.

Word on the Street: Burger Island is Coming and Toy's Cafe is Closed
Toy's on Lemmon is no more. Guess that means the Sig-O will have to find a new place for me to pick up that Thai soup that clears sinuses and makes you feel all better (like the Thai version of Matzo Ball Soup.) If you've got any suggestions as to another place to get it, share with the class.
On a different note, I ate at Burger Island last week and it wasn't half bad.

Word on the Street: Buzzbrews is Coming and Cowboy Chow is Closing
From SideDish (yes, this is a cut and paste AND Late) :
Word on the street is that the Deep Ellum/Commerce St. location of Cowboy Chow is being taken over by D’s Best Breakfast favorite, Buzzbrews. In fact, this (last) weekend is the Chow’s last one in that location. Look for Buzzbrews to start slinging their hash to downtown brunchers, the 2 am Adair’s crowd, and hungover hipsters sometime in July.

So Long - The Bronx
No, the New York City isn't closing, but to those of in Dallas, we'd prefer it did rather than the long standing, always a brunch favorite, The Bronx on Cedar Springs. It's a neighborhood favorite that will be missed after its 35+ years in business. Sunday brunch will be the last meal served, so make sure to grad your table. Bets of luck to the owners, who have decided it's time to retire. Thank you for so many great meals!

Adios Cuba Libre
So sad to see that, after 10 years, Cuba Libre on Henderson has closed. Once the hottest spot on Henderson, the two-story restaurant with a Latin theme closed yesterday. The owners say they're be opening a new restaurant in it's place, but I have to say I'm bummed to see them close. I loved those pitchers of mojitos, even more when they were half-price during happy hour.

Hoping for Avilas to Reincarnate Elsewhere
There's been a bit of family drama concerning a fave mexican restaurant in town - Avilas's. Word has now come down that that shut the doors at the Maple location. They'll be missed, but word on the street is that it will be back in a new location. Keep your fingers crossed.

Cheers to Crush. You Will be Missed
Crush Wine Shop has announced that it will close its doors Feb. 22 after almost three years on Knox at Cole.
"We have lost our lease," writes owner Jim Larkin in an e-mail, "and will be moving from this location. Future plans are uncertain at this time...but stayed tuned."
In the meantime, the store will be conducting an inventory clearance sale to avoid having to move stock. "So come shop for some super deals," writes Larkin.

Ta Ta Tom Tom
Word on the street is that Tom Tom Noodle House in the West Village has closed. Bummer. They always had good bento boxes and I was always a fan of their patio.

Adios Sala
Here's one more for the "Another One Bites the Dust" File. Sala, the Tex-Mex eatery founded by chef Doug Brown in his former Amuse space at 1326 S. Lamar closed on New Years Eve.
Word on the street is that a neighborhood bar called Stop-Play-Rewind that was slated for Victory Park iss now moving to South Side where two-time Superbowl winner and Oak Cliff native Brian Williams will debut the concept under a new name.

Adios La Cubanita
From the old cut-and-paste from a press release department:
"Lombardi Family Concepts has announced today that it will sell its holdings in La Cubanita restaurant on McKinney Avenue in Dallas to its partners in the operation. "La Cubanita received such good reviews and excellent feedback from the guests," says creator Alberto Lombardi, "but it wasn't able to garner the numbers necessary to make it a success. Lombardis' partners will reopen the location with a new concept." La Cubanita will close immediately."
Bummer.
