New Pub in Southern Oklahoma

Being one of those folks who dwells in the northern suburbs, I'm always excited to find somewhere to grab a beer on a good patio of a good restaurant (read: not another chain restaurant). So the Holy Grail has now arrived in Plano.

No really, it's called the Holy Grail Pub. They've got some serious beverages on tap for all you beer snobs. Even better for you late night partiers - it's in Plano, so that means you can stay out until 2 a.m. Woo hoo! Ok, I'm not likely to be out that late, but check out all the deets at www.holygrailpub.com

He's Not Dead? Who Knew?

Ok, so nobody has heard from Maxwell in a while and some of us might have thought he and Lenny Kravitz seemed eerily similar and never appeared together in the same place, but that's not relevant. Apparently Maxwell is back and he will be at the AAC on Monday, Oct. 12 (What is with all these darn Monday concerts?)

Presale is 8/27 10 a.m. through 8/28 10 p.m. Use the password: Night

Have fun.

Free Pizza at Papa John's

But apparently it's only free if you drive a Camaro. As the story goes, the founder sold his Camaro to have the money to start the pizza chain. Years later, after searching high and low for his original car, he finally bought it back. So to celebrate Camaros he's giving a free pizza to everyone who drives one.

Sounds kind of late for a Transformers promo, but whatever. Go eat your free pizza. At least there's one benefit to driving that car.

Somebody Must Have Tricked Kelly Clarkson

Good news, Kelly Clarkson is coming to town (sort of). Well, she's coming to town if you consider Winstar Casino to be a DFW venue, but whatever. Didn't she perform at the AAC last time? Well, that's neither here nor there, but this chick is performing on Sunday Sept. 6. Doesn't she know it's Labor Day weekend? WTH?

Anyway, I checked out the site this morning and could have gotten 2 second row tix for just $50 each. If I wasn't going to be sunning myself in Galveston then, I'd think about trekking to southern Oklahoma. Check out the site and get your tix here.

Because Your Thighs Want a Cupcake

It's a cupcake store. . . A mobile cupcake store. Armed with close to 3,000 cupcakes, Dimples Cupcakes Facebooks and Tweets their location so you can get your cupcake fix. They were hanging out near West Village yesterday and ran out of cupcakes! Sign up to follow them so you can get yours ASAP. Word on the street is that they'll be putting a storefront at Willowbend mall pretty soon and will have a huge kick off party complete with FREE CUPCAKES!

Do you think they named it after the dimples you'll get from smiling while eating a cupcake or from the other dimples (known as cellulite)?

Bubbles! and Texas Wine That Doesn't Suck

Check out Fuqua Winery this Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. and taste more than 17 sparkling wines from all over the world. See which sparkler is as good as Champagne but at a fraction of the price. This will be a blind tasting. Besides all of the sparklers, we will also taste our FUQUA wines as well. This tasting is limited to 16 people and costs $18 per person. Buy your ticket and make your reservations at www.FUQUAwinery.com

And I have to say, I've had Fuqua wines and they're great! Not your usual Texas wine at all!

Orphans for Sale

OMG, you actually thought this was about orphaned children for sale? This is not that kind of blog so keep moving on.

Now, orphaned wine is a different issue entirely and should be bought. Sigels in Addison got stuck with some overstock wine that restaurants didn't pick up, so they've got it on sale 30-70 percent off. Better get there quick because these wines will go fast.

Ooh La La Rue La La

If you've never found the site www.RueLaLa.com, you're missing out. Today is the day to check it out. While they normally feature all sorts of fabulous designer clothes, accessories and other fun fashionable things, today is special. Today they have a W Hotels Boutique. That means that swanky W at Victory Park just dropped below $200!

Sure, it sounds steep, but it also includes parking, breakfast for two and two cocktails at the Living Room (and it is sooo much cooler than your living room). Plus, you'll be able to easily get into the Ghost Bar without waiting in that obnoxious line.

Ok, so my friends know I have a lot of stories that start, "So I was at the wine bar . . . " Anyway, here's a way for you to check out new cool wines and see old favorites (even sorted by price and wine type). Even better, orders are delivered in temperature controlled vehicles within Dallas and there's free shipping within the state of TX . For those of us who also like gifting wine(it NEVER offends) to our friends out of state, shipping is flat rate of $10 for 1 to 6 bottles and $12 flat rate for 12 bottles to anywhere in the 48 states.
