Friday Afternoon Entertainment

Let's face it, we all hate working on Friday afternoons. I'd gladly work longer and harder during the other 4 days of the week, just ot avoid working Friday afternoon, but alas, I'm not currently afforded that situation. That being said, here's a good way to waste a few minutes of your day. Cute Roulette. Ok, it's kind of dumb, but just watch snips of a few videos. I'm not saying it will entertain you all afternoon, but it'll tick a few minutes off the clock. You're welcome.

Another Dinner Date Deal

I've been accused of being too Dallas focused, so this one is for those of you on the more northwestern side of town - Grapevine to be exact. Dive into unique Japanese-Malaysian cuisine at Lava 10 in Grapevine, praised by DFW.com for its "intricate flavors" and hip atmosphere. For $35, two can select a two-course dinner including sake from the offerings at this Southeast Asian-fusion eatery, normally as much as $79. Choose from any appetizer or salad on the menu to share, followed by any three sushi rolls or orders of sashimi (excluding the sashimi platter) or any two entrees. Pair the meal with an 8-ounce glass of hot house sake apiece. To start, try the traditional Malaysian poh pia or the Thai calamari salad. Next, choose from rolls like the peppered tuna tataki or smoked salmon sashimi. Or, choose from fusion entrees like the "superb" four corners duck (DFW.com) or Pacific Rim ribs. Grab this one if you happen to hang out in that area. Click here for the deal and details.

Because Haunted Houses Shouldn't Just Be for Halloween

or Christmas. Sig-O, several friends and I all hit up Moxley Manor Haunted House at Christmas time last year, and let me just say that the elves had gone mad. Apparently they were bad little girls and boys that felt like taking it out on you. That being said, Moxley Manor is a great haunted house that will have your Sig-O screaming like a little girl and clinging to you for dear life. You'll get the benefits of watching some 2 hour long horror flick in just 15 or 20 minutes. And today's deal gets you in for 1/2 price. Get the savings scared out of you with today's 50%-off deal from Moxley Manor Haunted House in Bedford. Receive two tickets for a visit to the Manor on April 29 or 30, or the Friday the 13th event in May for $15 (regularly $30). Cited by North Texas Daily as "pee your pants scary" and DFW HauntWorld as "disturbing," this manor offers more scares than your creepy neighbor's annual haunted house. Drop in at the end of April, or visit on May 13 and explore every room and dark hallway of the house as you try to make it out alive. This deal is scary good --you're going to have to move faster than a zombie to keep it alive: http://livingsocial.com/deals/33974-two-tickets

Dallas Wine Trail is Back!

“The wineries in Dallas are not the oldest, or the biggest, or the fanciest, but when it comes to the wine,Dallas made wines are some of the best wines made in the USA.We invite you to taste them and see for yourself.” – Drink Dallas

On May 7, Drink Dallas’ third annual Dallas Wine Trail Grand Tasting invites you to tipple at the region’s top wineries. For a mere $39 per person, Dallas Wine Trail Grand Tasting participants will receive three tastes each at each of this year’s four wineries, as well as 19.5-ounce crystal Dallas Wine Trail wine glass, food pairings at each winery, a free bottle of wine to take home, and a Dallas Wine Trail map.

This year’s wineries are: Calais Winery (3000 Commerce St.), FUQUA Winery (3737 Atwell St.), Inwood Estates (1350 Manufacturing St.), and Times Ten Cellars (6324 Prospect Ave.) This is not only fun, but offers a great opportunity to visit with our local wine makers. The event has sold out in the past, and tickets won’t be available at the door, so visit Dallas Wine Trail now to secure your spot.

They sell this trail out almost every time, so get your tickets ASAP. I think I'll work on convincing the Sig-O that this would be a really fun pre-birthday, birthday celebration.

Because People Watching While Eating a Turkey Leg is Fun

for the first few bites. But seriously, am I the only one who feels like after about 4 bites of a turkey leg, I'm done and don't really like looking like a neanderthal carrying around this bone, but I don't want to trash it because I just spent like 15 coupons ($7.50) on the darn thing. Today's Groupon is a good way to get your turkey leg and people watching fix at the same time. Click here to get your ticket, normally priced at $24, for only $12. Think of all the fun you'll have watching the people who actually OWN those costumes and get excited about this fair coming to town. Turkey leg not included.

So Long - The Bronx

No, the New York City isn't closing, but to those of in Dallas, we'd prefer it did rather than the long standing, always a brunch favorite, The Bronx on Cedar Springs. It's a neighborhood favorite that will be missed after its 35+ years in business. Sunday brunch will be the last meal served, so make sure to grad your table. Bets of luck to the owners, who have decided it's time to retire. Thank you for so many great meals!
